FRANCISCO MASSÓ LOSA
Dreams rise as powerful manifestations of our creative capacity. They allow us to imagine, create, and transform, not only ourselves but also the world around us.
My father was a testimony that life is not only made up of what we see, but also of what we dream. And it is in those dreams where we find the deepest connections with those we love, even when they are no longer, physically, with us.
Living without dreams is like existing without purpose. Dreams are the compass that guides us through the unknown. They are not limited to the longings that arise in the quiet of the night, nor to the goals we set for the short term. They are the life breath that nourishes our existence, the invisible thread that links our essence to a greater destiny, the glimmers of a future yet to come, but that we feel beating in the depths of our being, waiting to be reached.
While each of us travels this path in our own unique way, the truth is that life is more than just a simple journey: it is a process of continuous evolution, a journey towards the best version of ourselves, the reason why we keep moving forward, even when the shadows of circumstance seem to eclipse our inner light.
The act of pursuing a dream with tenacity and firmness is not a solitary journey; it is a beacon hope for all those who need to believe in the possibility of the impossible.
Thus, the journey of life reveals itself as a process of discovery. It is not merely, about exploring the world around us, but also about delving into our interior, understanding all that we are capable of being, doing, and creating. Dreams motivate us to transcend our limitations, confront our fears, and free ourselves from the expectations of others. They teach us to see life not merely as an accumulation of circumstances, but also as fertile ground where we can sow our own realities and forge our own destiny.
But dreaming is not always easy. Dreaming is an act of bravery in the face of adversity. Often, we find ourselves besieged by inner voices that discredit our concerns, labelling them as unattainable fantasies. The cultural archetypes that emphasize merit and failure —the social prism that fragments and distorts the concept of success— often distance us from our deepest desires. Nevertheless, each person harbours within a unique dream, big or small, discreet or bold, that yearns to come to life.
It symbolizes a process, a reflection of our own potential. A constant dance between wanting and having, between effort and patience. It is not just about achieving what we desire, but about becoming who we need to be to achieve it. It involves learning to live in harmony with our aspirations, embracing them as they are, without fearing the judgment of others. Understanding that conquering them is not just the final destination, but the journey itself.
Throughout life, we learn that the footprints left by our parents are much more than fleeting memories. They are seeds that continue to germinate in us, long after they are gone, keeping alive the values, legacies, and hopes shared with us, inspiring us, weaving their teachings into the fabric of our own aspirations and showing us how to live according to our dreams.
Dear Dad, here I am, sitting in front of your childhood photograph, with your bright eyes and innocent smile.
In my heart, in my memories, in every gesture I make, in every step I take, every time I look to the future, I have you on my mind.
I wish I could cross the barriers of time and space to embrace you, to whisper in your ear the secrets that the future holds. That future which is my present and in which your absence is deeply felt.
Dad, my little dad, if only you could imagine the wonderful life that awaits you. Those dreams that now flutter in your childish mind, those illusions that make you smile when no one is looking, those longings you cannot yet name, but that already throb strongly in your heart. All, absolutely all, will come true.
You will become a beacon of light for many, an inexhaustible source of inspiration. You will be someone whose memory will live on in the hearts of those who know you, wrapped in a halo of affection and deep respect. And those fears, those shadows of insecurity that sometimes cloud your nights, will vanish before your inexorable spirit. You will turn into a man of indomitable courage, self-assured, capable of facing with gallantry any challenge that life presents to you. You will learn, with every beat of your heart that every obstacle is a step towards greatness, an opportunity to demonstrate the inexhaustible strength that resides within you.
Dad, my adored little dad, I wish I could hold you right now, feel your little heart beating with the overflowing excitement of the unknown. I wish I could tell you that everything will be okay, that every tear you shed, every moment of doubt, every stumble, will bring you one step closer to becoming the extraordinary man you will become.
Your life will be a living testimony that the most beautiful dreams do come true, that magic exists for those who believe in it with stoic passion. So keep dreaming, Dad. Keep imagining wonderful worlds, keep believing in the impossible. Because, although you cannot see it now, each of those dreams, illusions, yearnings, and ambitions will intertwine to weave the beautiful and moving story that will be your life.
And I, your son, will be the privileged witness of how a child with bright eyes and an innocent smile became the greatest hero of my life. In the man who, with his unconditional love and unwavering example, shaped my heart and soul.
