Dream a life, live a dream

FRANCISCO MASSÓ LOSA
Love, Presence, Legacy

It is said that dreams rise as powerful manifestations of our creative capacity. They allow us to imagine, create and transform, not only ourselves but also the world around us.

My father was living proof that life is not made solely of what we see, but also of what we dream. And it is in those dreams that we find the deepest connections with those we love, even when they are no longer physically with us.

To live without dreaming is to exist without purpose. Dreams are the compass that guides us through the unknown. They are not limited to the desires that arise in the stillness of night, nor to the short-term goals we set. They are the vital breath that nourishes our lives, the invisible thread linking our essence to a greater destiny, the glimpses of a future yet to come, but which we feel pulsing deep within us, waiting to be reached.

Although each of us travels this path in a unique way, the truth is that life is more than a mere journey: it is a process of continual evolution, a voyage toward the best version of ourselves, the reason we keep moving forward, even when the shadows of circumstances seem to eclipse our inner light.

The act of pursuing a dream with tenacity and resolve is not a solitary journey; it is a beacon that radiates hope to all those who need to believe in the possibility of the impossible.

Thus, the journey of life reveals itself as a process of discovery. It is not merely about exploring the world around us, but also about delving into our inner selves, understanding all that we are capable of being, doing and creating. Dreams motivate us to transcend our limitations, confront our fears and free ourselves from the expectations of others. They teach us to see life not merely as a collection of circumstances, but as fertile ground where we can sow our own realities and shape our own destiny.

Yet dreaming is not always easy. To dream is an act of courage in the face of adversity. Often, we are besieged by inner voices that discredit our longings, labeling them as unattainable fantasies. Cultural archetypes that emphasize merit and failure —the social prism that fragments and distorts the concept of success— also often lead us away from our deepest desires. Nevertheless, each person carries within them a unique dream, whether large or small, modest or bold, longing to come to life.

It symbolizes a process, a reflection of our own potential, a constant dance between wanting and having, between effort and patience. It is not only about achieving what we desire, but about becoming who we need to be to achieve it. It involves learning to live in harmony with our aspirations, to embrace them as they are, without fear of others’ judgment. Understanding that conquering them is not merely the final destination, but the journey itself.

Throughout life, we learn that the footprints our parents leave are much more than fleeting memories. They are seeds that continue to germinate within us long after they are gone, keeping alive the values, legacies and hopes they shared with us, inspiring us, weaving their teachings into the fabric of our own aspirations and showing us how to live in accordance with our dreams.

From a legacy of dreams and virtues received,
this tribute to my father, Francisco Massó Losa, is born—
a reflection of nobility, of spirit,
and of the greatness of his human condition.

A man of integrity, generous and steadfast,
whose life stood as a testament
to values, effort and dignity.

In him I recognize my principles,
my strength, my way of seeing the world.

His legacy accompanies every step,
guides every decision.
What I am,
everything I aspire to be,
bears his name… his imprint… his example.

These words arise from gratitude,
from a love that folds back upon itself,
from the impulse to look behind
and pause before that child
who, over the years, became my father.

They are born of love…
of a love that spans the years,
that defies time,
a bridge extended
between the boy who dreamed of horizons
and the man who conquered them
with humility…
with courage…

They whisper between what was lived and what was dreamed,
brushing against hope, caressing the future
that still slept in his small hands.

A letter that travels from the present to the past,
an impossible dialogue
between who he was
and who he came to be.

They arise from a grateful son,
who recognizes in that child the spark of tenderness
that would later set life ablaze,
the seed of courage that would blossom into a thousand acts of love,
the light that guided his steps
even before he knew where he was going.

It is a song to his memory,
to the child who dreamed of worlds yet to be discovered,
to the extraordinary man he became,
to the music of a life that blossomed,
to a love that is never forgotten,
to the child who, without knowing it, was already sowing
the visions that would one day become his story…
and mine,
and that still lives on, eternal,
in every memory.

To the Child Who Was My Father

Today, Dad,
from afar,
sitting in front of your childhood photograph,
I watch you with your bright eyes
and your innocent smile.

In my heart, in my memories,
in every gesture I make,
in every step I take,
every time I look toward the future,
you are present with me.

I wish I could cross the barriers of time and space,
to embrace you,
to whisper in your ear the secrets that the future holds,
that future which is now my present,
and in which your absence is deeply felt.

Dad, my little dad,
if only you could imagine the wonderful life that awaits you.

Those dreams that now flutter in your childlike mind,
those hopes that make you smile when no one is watching,
those longings you cannot yet name,
but which already beat strongly in your heart…

All of them, absolutely all,
will come true.

You will become a beacon of light for many,
an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
You will be someone whose memory endures
in the hearts of all who know you,
surrounded by love and deep respect.

And those fears, those shadows of uncertainty
that sometimes cloud your nights,
will fade before your indomitable spirit.

You will grow into a fearless man,
decisive and bold,
confident in yourself,
able to face with courage
any challenge life places before you.

You will learn, with every beat of your heart,
that every obstacle is a stepping stone to greatness,
an opportunity to show the boundless strength
that resides within you.

Dad, my beloved little dad,
I wish I could hold you right now,
feel your tiny heart beating
with the overwhelming excitement of the unknown.

I wish I could tell you that everything will be alright,
that every tear you shed,
every moment of doubt,
every stumble,
will bring you one step closer to becoming
the extraordinary man you are destined to be.

Your life will be living proof
that the most beautiful dreams do come true,
that magic exists for those who believe in it
with steadfast passion.

So keep dreaming, Dad;
keep imagining wonderful worlds,
keep believing in the impossible.

Because, even if you cannot see it now,
every one of those hopes, dreams and aspirations
will weave together
the beautiful, moving story that will be your life.

And I, your child,
will be the privileged witness
of how a boy with bright eyes and an innocent smile
became the greatest hero of my life.

The man who, with his unconditional love
and unwavering example,
shaped my heart and my soul.
